This place wasn't the best for me. I don't think it's a bad establishment or that the massage therapist is bad either. Perhaps just bad communication. I was greeted well upon entering. She showed me my room where I got laid down. It was a good 30 minute massage. A bit rough but I was fine with it since I was trying to get a bad knot out of my back. She also asked about proper strength, so she was not ignorant towards how much pressure to apply. After the 30 minutes, she asked if I wanted 10 more minutes for a little bit extra. I agreed. She continued and then she ran off to go get what I assume were hot rocks and a warm towel. She used them, which I thought was nice, and at the time, a free service since she didn't mention an additional charge for it. The massage ended, and I went back up front to pay her for the additional 10 minutes with a $5 dollar tip. She seemed displeased by that and asked me three times if that was the amount I was trying to pay. I said yes, and she seemed dumbfounded, tried to what I'm assume, make a comment about how she used the hot rocks and such and then proceeded to strong arm me into paying more than expected. For what was originally a $45 massage, I believe, I spent $72. I'm fine spending additional money for an additional service. I just think she should've told me she was going to charge me. Almost every other massage therapist I've gone to will do something similar for a first time customer, so I thought she was being nice and doing it on the house. She made it clear that the part about adding 10 minutes would be an additional cost, so I don't know why she wouldn't make that known if using the hot rocks and such was also going to be an additional charge. I don't believe this to be a bad business, but definitely for any future customer, be sure that you are on the same page as the massage therapist.
If you’re looking for relaxation, this is the place to go
The massage itself was very good and really helped relieve my tight muscles. Unfortunately, the professionalism at the end of the appointment completely changed my experience. When the massage was finished, the therapist suggested that I leave a 30% tip. When I said I couldn’t afford that, she shook her head and spoke under her breath saying I should give that amount. That made the situation very uncomfortable. A tip should always be at the customer’s discretion, and clients should never feel pressured to give a specific amount—especially 30%. Many people go to lower-priced spas because they can’t afford higher-end services.
This is a new massage shop. The place was very clean and spacious. The lady who gave me a massage was wonderful. She was very professional and used just the right amount of pressure to make me feel great.
